Well, it hasn't been posted yet so let's get an intro thread going.
I'm Curt, I live in Utah about 3 hours from Moab. Been into biking about 15 years, and recently ovaled my headtube so I'm back on the hardtail for now.
So who are you?

I'll bite.
I'm Mike, the webmaster of MBT, and I reside in Western NY about 45 minutes out of Buffalo. I've only been seriously biking for about 5 years now. I mostly stick to trails, but occasionaly do a little downhill. And by little I mean "little".

I'm Abby and I contribute to Mountain Bike Tales with the monthly Steps To Success column. I live in Lakeview NY. I'm a fan of catching air but ripping downhill trails with the scenery flying by is probably my fav!

As the name suggests, I'm a Mongoose mad man from the icy terrain of the North. Dual Suspension set ups are key to dropping of the ice burgs 'round here!

Hi All, Just found this site tonight and signed up. Thought I would say hello. Have not ridden the past two years after moving from the Bay area of CA. to Eastern NC. where I am now at. But I have had all I can take of withdrawl and am heading out tomorrow am to get another bike. Road Gary Fisher before, and will be doing that again. I ride mostly trails and know I am way out of shape from where i was when I stopped!
So will be retraining myself again...I was never a pro rider but love the sport!
It is hitting the 70's this week and I am going to burn it up after work as much as I can! And we just had single digit unheard of temps out here with snow!
Peace, Mtbiker

Welcome aboard Mtbiker! Make sure you post all the details about your new mount. 70 degrees is perfect weather to be testing out the new equipment. We too went from near zero up to 53 degrees. Is Global Warming real?

Hi Guys, Sotty here, i live and ride in Australia. I found your site and decided to sign up.
I ride with my mates in New South Wales and free riding is our style. "Freeriding" for us just means doing whatever you want on a Bike, their are no rules and no restrictions as long as you have fun!

Sooty, What's the weather like in Australia this time of year? We're usually ina deep freeze right about now, but abnormally warm temps means loads of rain (and mud)! Unfortunately I'm spending more time online dreaming about riding then actually riding lately.

Hey Mgoose,
Mate very hot at the moment, i live in a rural / urban city of 50,000 in New South Wales named Tamworth.
I am originally from Sydney but relocated here with my family many years ago, to get away from the rat race so to speak & one of the bonus's is the places which i can ride.
I will be participating in my first Adventure Race this year although MTB is my main passion.
cheers

Sooty: Sounds like a dream dude! We'll trade you some of that heat for a little cloudy freezing rain if you're interested. Good luck in your first adventure race, naturally the members of Mountain Bike Tales want to hear all about here in the forums. Oh and welcome aboard.

Mike here. I live on the Georgia/Alabama border and know absolutely nothing about mtb's. However, thanks to my lovely wife I can now jump in the saddle and start the learning process. She surprised me this Christmas with my first bike - an 05 Specialized RockHopper. It's Greek to me right now but sure is a thing of beauty. I have wanted a bike for a long, long time. Due to vacation away and everyday hectic life, I have only rode once. The "ride" consisted of the bike and I sloshing through some freshly drenched trail behind my house. We both came out covered in good ole Georgia red clay and an air of excitement. To say the least, It was a blast and I was hooked. Please pass along any info that might seem helpful, which will be pretty much everything for me. God Bless and War Eagle Rides on

Welcome aboard Mike, your wife has good taste as the Specialized RockHopper is an awesome first bike. Here is a link to Specialized's web site: www.specialized.com/SBCUSHome.jsp?minisite=10080&orig=us&xsrc=1003Is seems like most sites don't have reviews for the 2005's yet.. I'll come back with some links as soon as I come across them. What's the weather like in Georgia/Alabama this time of year?

Thanks for the link Mgoose. What do you think would be most helpful to read up on? I am not the most technical person but would love to know what all the specs mean and how new parts would affect the bike. Does this just come with experience? Anyway, the weather here is unseasonably warm which kinda hacks me off because I actually enjoy the tiny amount of cold weather we get down here. Oh well. Thanks again
