Michael Sylvestri (Truckee, Calif./ARMA Energy - Evil Bikes) and Amber Price (Westminster, Colo./BikeSource Gravity Racing) both cracked the top five in their respective standings as the USA Cycling Pro Mountain Bike Gravity Tour (Pro GRT) rolled through Angel Fire, N.M. Dry and dusty conditions, combined with a long downhill course, greeted the racers at the Chile Challenge on June 9, the sixth of 10 stops on the tour.
Sylvestri won the downhill race at the Chile Challenge by more than 10 seconds to move into third place in the Pro GRT men's standings with 108 points. The top two spots in the men's standings remain unchanged with Logan Binggeli (Saint George, Utah/KHS-LiveStrength-ISX Sports) and Aaron Gwin (Wildomar, Calif./Specialized Racing) sitting comfortably in front with 144 and 140 points, respectively.
Sylvestri's performance knocked Brook MacDonald (NZL) down to fourth place in the standings with 100 points, while Kevin Aiello (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif./KHS Bicycles) dropped to fifth place with 88 points.
Price placed second in the women's Chile Challenge downhill and vaulted to second place in the Pro GRT women's standings with 82 points. Anne Galyean (Frederick, Md./Trek-Integrity Racing-Deity) continues to lead the women's tour with 120 points. The women's top five is rounded out by Robyn Embrey (Incline Village, Nev./Shine Riders Co) with 80 points, Jacqueline Harmony (Tucson, Ariz./Team Harmony Pivot) with 72 points, and Eva Wilson(Kensington, N.H./Oliver Racing) with 62 points.
