It is nameless, but resides just south of the state land in Arkwright NY, I know some of the New Yorkers on this board know where I'm talking about!
If anyone ever plans a western NY ride, PM me and I'll get you directions. Great scenery!

Skylinerider: What's Moab riding like? I picture it being dry and desert-like. Describe the terrain and a little bit about the trail you recommend. Very dry, but it can get very cold at night. Picture Mars, but you can ride on it. Always have lots of water. In the summer it is above 100 most all day and 30 degree temp. swings are not uncommon once the sun goes down. I took this from trailcentral. Pretty accurate: "Amasa back is a mixture of slickrock, dirt, rock, and sand. It goes up at a relatively moderate grade and includes a number of technical obstacles. I've taken beginner riders here and they loved it -- but walked lots of the obstacles. Advanced riders will like the challenge and leapfrogging with the other riders. The trail descends about 1/4 mile to a seasonal stream. There is a sweet rock staircase here at the start of the trail. Fun to ride up or down! Then make a lefthand turn through the sand, up the hill. Ride through the babies heads and onto the doubletrack jeep trail here. Continue upwards, snaking your way up the side of the mesa. You'll eventually top out on this mesa at around 2.5 miles. turn right and descend a little, down a nasty staircase, and then up another mesa. The trail heads out towards a view of potash and the colorado river at the top of a 1000+ ft cliff."

That sounds great! With the blizzard we got going on around here these days, sounds like a dream.

Is the weather this time of year how you described it above? Those conditions are some of my favorite for riding. I'm a big fan of hard pack, but not of dust. Naturally, beggars can't be chosers- but I'm learning to deal with pushing through half a foot of snow for kicks and giggles. Ah well

Well, right now it is about 50 or so during the day (still not too bad to ride). You have most of Moab to yourself in the winter, only sharing with the locals and a few Jeepers.

First time poster here...
There are several trails in the Pisgah National Forest (located in Western NC) that count as my favorites, but my all-time favorite is one there known as the River Ride. It's about 12-14 miles long, and there's numerous water crossings. Between the views, the swinging bridges, and the water it's an amazing trail.
That being said, I went to Moab last year (I live in GA) and we rode Amasa Back along with several other trails. For me, it was a tie between Amasa Back and the Porcupine Rim.

The only photo I have in my office from that trip is our group mugging for the camera on Porcupine Rim. We were about 2 miles from the end, and stopped on of those amazing ledges overlooking the Colorado.
I see you're infected with Jeeps as well? I've got two in the driveway.
