I'm not giving up the name of my favourite spot, call me selfish, but it's been gettin more and more crowded the last few years. Anyhow, it's a small mountain (or large hill) in Northern Mass/Southern New Hampshire (it borders both) with several trails and ascents and a few ways down on your bike ranging from fairly dificult (at least for me!) to extreme. It's an old, shut down ski hill and my favourite way up is an old power line alley (half the timbers have long since fallen down) that's a straight shot up, but steep. There are other easier ways but this is the fastest. Throw the bike on your back and start climbing! Takes about 30-40 minutes depending on what kind of shape you're in, but the reward after is well worth it. The trip down seems to be over before your know it, but I gaurantee there's no amusement park ride like it anywhere in the world!

Sounds like a biker's paradise to me. We have a long desending hill around here but its so steep and long that shuttle running it is the most practical way (if you can find someone willing to drive you up then meet you at the bottom). What bike set up you running Wimber? I imagine weight is an issue with climbing the hill side, bike on back.

Hi guys, i thought that i would add the pic of our BMX track in this thread, so visitors dont have to wait for the current pictures i have added in the Rockmonster thread to load. The image above is 3 pictures which i have added together as to give you a view of its size. Right in the middle of the pic, you can see the dark tunnel which is where riders come out of as they dissapear and drop into a HUGE nearly vertical wall which is too far away to see. I may even do a video of the track to give you a "feel" of how it actually runs, because the pic above does not really do the track justice with regards to the size of the place. Their is even a smaller warm up track their as well so riders can practice smaller and easier stuff, its great for practicing basic stuff, and for novices or young kids so one day they will shred the place. The Main track has just about everything you could want in dirt, from tabletops, bumps and jumps, burns so you certainly get a great workout. I guess its one reason why the riders rate the track as the best in Oz. I shredded the track 4 times today in the 40 degree heat, and i came home 2kilos lighter but i am happy with the time i have been able to have in the saddle over the weekend. Thats 2 x good ries in a row ( with the exception of my bent seat, ouch!) Anyway, as i look outside we have some very dark stormclouds about to come over and it looks like a lovely storm is on its way. 'about time" so take it easy! Later

I've got a hardtail Cannondale M400 circa 1998 so it's pretty light. It's also a bit small, but I like that with the downhill rides.

No worries wimber, i just read your bio. So you are in Canada eh, geez you lucky bugger, i watch alot of MTB stuff on cable, and it seems the Candian riders have a style and outlook on riding very similure to us aussies.
My favourite is the riders on Drop In (www.dropin.pinkbike.com), they are canadians who travel on road tours finding wicked places to ride, from dirt and downhill, to my personal fav "urban freeriding" and i just love watching them.
One dude on the show yesterday, did a 30ft drop off down a mountain which was absolutly "sic" and to watch the guys do an urban free ride is sooo motivating as they do stuff on what ever is available, like doing 180's after bouncing off fences, dropin off from ledges, bunny hopping cement barriers, manualing down stairs, man i could just go on and on about them, as they are one of the reasons why i ride every day.
I saw a great website the other day (i cant recall the url) with heaps of freeding pics of guys doing stuff in urban terrain and taking a pics of all the obsticals in their city, i am thinking about doing one for myself and my mates.
cheers

An Auzzie eh? A lot of my boys from back home have done the backpacking thing down there. They all say they loved it. It's quite the thing to do in Waterloo these days-buzz around Austraulia for a while after school. I never did it, but everyone says the cultures are very similar, but you guys get the the better weather. Anyhow, I'm not livin in Canada right now, I'm living in New England. Ridings great here, but I miss the old town.
